Mark Viner, piano (United Kingdom)
Asiya Korepanova, piano
Mark Viner and Asiya Korepanova recreate the legendary 1837 piano duel between Franz Liszt and Sigismund Thalberg which took place on March 31, 1837, at the Paris salon of Princess Cristina Belgiojoso. Held as a charity fundraiser for Italian refugees, the contest pitted Thalberg's poised, elegant "three-hand" arpeggio style against Liszt's fiery, theatrical virtuosity.
Mark Viner has been described by International Piano Magazine as “one of the most gifted pianists of his generation”.
Asiya Korepanova is a pianistic powerhouse. Asiya finds unique joy in exploring monumental pieces, such as Liszt's 24 Etudes or Bach’s Well-Tempered Clavier.
