For this Memorial Day weekend service, let’s consider the role of creative art in the creation of public memorials and what this signifies for our national values, tensions, and theology. Along the way, we’ll also consider the origins of Memorial Day in Decoration Day historically in the aftermath of the Civil War, an early sign of value tensions to come that remain with us today.
